Flash Flood Warning issued by NWS Birmingham AL. Effective from August 21, 2026 at 1:55 AM CDT until August 21, 2026 at 5:00 AM CDT.
Affected Areas
Northern and Central Blount County in central Alabama. Specific locations include Oneonta, Blountsville, Cleveland, Locust Fork, Snead, Susan Moore, Allgood, Fairview, Nectar, Rosa, Inland Lake, Highland Lake, Easley, Fowler Spring and Hendrix.
What You Should Do
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads. In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route.
Expected Conditions
Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 2 and 3 inches of rain have fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 1 to 2 inches in 1 hour. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.
