Is AreaZine a warning service?
No. It records the agencies' notices after they are issued and shows how often each place and warning type gets them. When a warning is in force, act on the agency's message and the alerts on your phone.
Where do the notices come from?
From the agencies' own feeds: the National Weather Service, FEMA, the USGS, Environment and Climate Change Canada, Health Canada, the Environment Agency, the Food Standards Agency, the MHRA, the OPSS, the NSW Rural Fire Service, the Bureau of Meteorology, the ACCC and FSANZ. Every notice links the agency's page.
How far back do the counts go?
NWS warning counts go back to 2005 through the Iowa Environmental Mesonet archive (averages use 2008 onward), FEMA declarations to 1953, and England's flood alerts and warnings to January 2006. AreaZine's own record of the live feeds starts in April 2026.
Why is a notice I saw on TV missing?
AreaZine publishes weather hazards, earthquakes, fires in New South Wales, FEMA declarations and recalls outside the U.S. It does not publish U.S. recalls, messages about people, or incidents that are not natural hazards, and a product issued and cancelled within minutes can fall between two reads of the live feed.
Who writes the pages?
A notice page is assembled from the agency's own fields by fixed templates, with the agency's message quoted as sent. Guides and research pages are written with AI tools and checked against the data; every number comes from a database query.
