Safety alert & city statistics
Data as of · observation window from 11 February 2026 (181 days) · figures update with each pipeline refresh
Areazine mirrors official safety feeds and U.S. Census-place profiles into one searchable corpus. This page is the living national reference: every headline figure below is counted from the live database, not typed in. Counts measure how often agencies publish notices in our window, not how dangerous a place is. See the methodology and deeper write-ups under research.

Key findings
Standalone-citable statements from the live corpus. Free to quote with attribution to Areazine and the named government source (August 2026).
- 21,222 published safety-alert records sit in the Areazine corpus across a 181-day observation window since 11 February 2026, spanning the United States, Australia, the United Kingdom, and Canada.
- 71.6% of those records (15,186 of 21,222) are United States notices, driven mainly by county-scoped NOAA weather products, not by a claim that the U.S. is the riskiest place.
- 10,582 U.S. NOAA weather alerts make up 49.9% of the full four-country corpus, the single largest category by raw count.
- 64.7% of all published alerts (13,740 of 21,222) carry Areazine's internal high-severity label; 6,350 are medium and 1,121 are low.
- 2,001 FDA food, drug, and device recalls lead U.S. recall-family publishing at 63.7% of 3,142 FDA/NHTSA/CPSC/shortage records (11.1 per day in this window).
- 1,281 USGS earthquake articles appear in the window; 3.9% (50) are labeled high severity under Areazine's magnitude/depth/population rule set, not an official USGS grade.
- 3,890 of 4,640 tracked U.S. Census places (population 10,000+) carry a matched place FIPS profile; 3,885 also hold CDC PLACES health measures used on city pages.
- $67,976 is the unweighted average median household income across the 4,640 tracked Census places on file (tracked-city average, not a household-weighted national median).
Alerts by country
Country share reflects feed granularity and how many agencies we ingest per federation, not comparative risk. Weather products dominate the U.S. and Canadian rows.
| Country | Published alerts | Share |
|---|---|---|
| United States | 15,186 | 71.6% |
| Australia | 3,472 | 16.4% |
| United Kingdom | 1,113 | 5.2% |
| Canada | 1,451 | 6.8% |
Top source agencies
Ranked by raw published-article count in the current window. High volume usually means a fine-grained, high-cadence feed (for example county weather products), not higher hazard.
| # | Agency | Alerts |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | NOAA | 10,604 |
| 2 | NSW RFS | 2,413 |
| 3 | FDA | 2,187 |
| 4 | USGS | 1,339 |
| 5 | ECCC | 1,140 |
| 6 | Environment Agency | 1,006 |
| 7 | BOM | 901 |
| 8 | NHTSA | 722 |
U.S. recall-family mix
FDA, NHTSA, and CPSC recalls plus FDA drug shortages. Shortages are counted separately because a shortage is not a recall.
| Channel | Records | Per day |
|---|---|---|
| FDA recalls | 2,001 | 11.1 |
| NHTSA vehicle recalls | 722 | 4 |
| CPSC product recalls | 283 | 1.6 |
| FDA drug shortages | 136 | 0.8 |
Tracked-city Census benchmarks

Every figure on Areazine is published directly from official U.S. government sources, no number is typed in by an editor. Alert totals and agency mixes are COUNT(*) over published articles in the live SQLite mirror; city benchmarks are unweighted averages of city_profiles Census fields.
