Alert Details
BOM has issued a Severe Weather Warning (IDT21037) for damaging winds. The alert is effective from Friday morning through Saturday morning, with winds easing by midday Saturday.
Affected Areas
The warning covers Upper Derwent Valley, South East, East Coast, Central Plateau and parts of Western, North East, North West Coast, Central North and Midlands Forecast Districts in Tasmania. Locations which may be affected include Swansea, New Norfolk, Hobart, Bicheno, Orford and Geeveston.

Timeline
Winds develop around sunrise Friday for southern elevated areas and exposed southwest coastlines, extend to the Central Plateau and elevated northeast during the afternoon, then lower into Hobart and eastern areas from late afternoon. Winds ease in Hobart by midnight Friday and contract to elevated areas by sunrise Saturday before easing throughout the warning area by midday Saturday.
