Eastern Franklin County in central North Carolina... * Until 330 PM EDT. * At 210 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 8 miles west of Nashville, moving northeast at 30 mph. HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees. * Locations impacted include... Rocky Mount, Roanoke Rapids, Nashville, Halifax, Dortches, Littleton, Red Oak, Enfield, Weldon, and Spring Hope. This includes Interstate 95 between Mile Markers 173 and 132.

Remain alert for a possible tornado! Tornadoes can develop quickly from severe thunderstorms. If you spot a tornado go at once into the basement or small central room in a sturdy structure. For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 500 PM EDT for central North Carolina.
