Alert Details

The National Weather Service in Anchorage, AK, has issued a Storm Warning and a Heavy Freezing Spray Warning for the coastal waters of the Northern Gulf of Alaska. The alert is effective from Wednesday morning through early Thursday morning.

Affected Areas

The warning covers the region from Marmot Island to Sitkinak, extending from 15 to 85 nautical miles out. This includes the Northern Gulf of Alaska Coast, Kodiak Island, and Cook Inlet.

Expected Conditions

Conditions are expected to deteriorate starting Tuesday night with northwest winds of 35 knots increasing to 45 knots. By Wednesday and Wednesday night, northwest winds are forecast to reach 50 knots with seas building to 18 feet. Heavy freezing spray is expected during this peak period. On Thursday, winds will remain strong at 40 knots with 15-foot seas, gradually subsiding to 30 knots and 10-foot seas by Thursday night.
