Alert Details
The National Weather Service in Lake Charles has issued a Special Marine Warning (Alert level: Severe). This alert is effective immediately as of 8:26 PM CST on February 14, 2026.
Affected Areas
The warning covers the following maritime regions:
- Sabine Lake
- Coastal waters from Cameron, LA to High Island, TX out 20 NM
- Coastal waters from Intracoastal City to Cameron, LA out 20 NM
- Waters from Cameron, LA to High Island, TX from 20 to 60 NM
Specific locations impacted include West Cameron blocks 66, 303, 45, 65, 62, 48, 149, 110, 130, 294, 53, 73, and 71, as well as High Island blocks 136, 22, 199, A177, 110, 138, and 116.
What You Should Do
Mariners and residents in the affected areas are advised to avoid these waters. Small craft are at risk of damage due to briefly higher winds and suddenly higher waves. Additionally, a Tornado Watch remains in effect until 9:00 PM CST for southeastern Texas and adjacent waters, and until 2:00 AM CST for southwestern Louisiana and adjacent waters.
Expected Conditions
At 8:25 PM CST, radar indicated a line of strong thunderstorms extending from near the Mouth of the Sabine River to near High Island 157. These storms are moving east at 35 knots. Hazards include wind gusts reaching nearly 50 knots, which can cause suddenly elevated wave heights.
