Alert Details
The National Weather Service in Jacksonville FL has issued a Special Marine Warning for coastal waters in Northeast Florida. The alert is effective immediately and remains in place until 7:00 PM EDT on March 15, 2026.
Affected Areas
The warning covers the following maritime regions:
- Coastal waters from St. Augustine to Flagler Beach FL out 20 NM
- Waters from St. Augustine to Flagler Beach FL from 20 to 60 NM
Specific locations that may be impacted include Beverly Beach, Big Georges Reef, Marineland, Crescent Beach, and Palm Coast.
What You Should Do
Boaters are advised to seek safe harbor immediately until the storms pass. If your vessel is caught offshore, you should immediately secure for heavy weather. All crew members must wear USCG approved Type I life jackets, and nonessential crew should remain below decks. Boaters should also deploy jack lines and harnesses if available and check the readiness of life-saving equipment, including batteries on handheld radios.
Expected Conditions
Radar indicates strong thunderstorms capable of producing wind gusts of 34 knots or greater and small hail. In addition to high winds and hail, mariners should expect high waves, dangerous lightning, and heavy rain.
