This Flash Flood Warning has been issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Kansas City/Pleasant Hill MO. It is effective from 4:16 AM CDT on April 27, 2026, until 10:00 AM CDT on the same day.
Affected Areas
The warning covers Northeastern Johnson County and Wyandotte County in east central and northeastern Kansas, as well as Clay County, Central Jackson County, and Platte County in west central Missouri. Specific locations include Kansas City, Overland Park, Olathe, Independence, Lee's Summit, Shawnee, Blue Springs, Lenexa, Leavenworth, Leawood, Raytown, Liberty, Gladstone, Prairie Village, Lansing, Excelsior Springs, Merriam, Mission, Smithville, and Kearney.

Expected Conditions
Doppler radar indicates thunderstorms producing heavy rain, with 0.5 to 1.5 inches of rain already fallen and additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches possible. This will cause flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets, underpasses, and other poor drainage and low-lying areas.
