What You Should Do
Residents are advised to monitor local forecasts and alerts issued by Environment Canada. Because strong winds can cause utility outages and create hazardous driving conditions—particularly for high-sided vehicles—caution is urged. To report severe weather, residents can email BCstorm@ec.gc.ca or use the hashtag #BCStorm on X.
Expected Conditions
A vigorous low-pressure system will generate strong southwesterly winds. Wind gusts are expected to range between 70 and 90 km/h. In exposed areas, gusts may exceed 90 km/h. These conditions are significant enough to potentially cause property damage and localized power outages.
Timeline
The wind event is expected to begin Saturday afternoon. The strong winds will persist overnight and are forecast to ease by Sunday morning.
