FFWGSP The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg has extended the * Flash Flood Warning for... Rutherford County in western North Carolina... * Until 845 AM EDT. * At 640 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms continuing to produce heavy rain across the warned area. Between 3 and 5 inches of rain have fallen, with additional torrential rainfall moving through eastern Rutherford County. Flash flooding is ongoing. High flows should be expected on area creeks and streams, including along Cleghorn Creek in Rutherfordton, Floyds Creek near Forest City, and Mountain Creek near Green Hill. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by heavy rain. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Expect flash flooding of low-lying areas near streams, including parks, trails, low-water crossings, boat- access areas, and campgrounds. Significant flooding of poor-drainage areas are likely, impacting travel. Low-lying roadways are likely to be flooded, requiring barricades. * Some locations that will continue to experience flash flooding include... Forest City, Rutherfordton, Spindale, Ellenboro, Bostic, South Mountains State Park, Alexander Mills, Sunshine, Union Mills and Caroleen.
