Tornado Warning issued by NWS Lincoln IL. Effective from 8:54 PM CDT June 17, 2026 until 9:45 PM CDT June 17, 2026. Severity: Extreme. Urgency: Immediate. Certainty: Observed.

Affected Areas

Effingham County in south central Illinois. The storm was located near Wrights Corner, or 14 miles northeast of Vandalia, moving east at 55 mph. This dangerous storm will be near Altamont around 900 PM CDT, Effingham, Watson, and Heartville around 910 PM CDT, and Dieterich. Includes Interstate 57 between mile markers 147 and 163 and Interstate 70 between mile markers 79 and 97.

TAKE COVER NOW! Move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building. Avoid windows. If you are outdoors, in a mobile home, or in a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter and protect yourself from flying debris.
