Tornado Warning issued by NWS Twin Cities/Chanhassen MN. Effective from May 17, 2026 at 7:48 PM CDT until May 17, 2026 at 8:30 PM CDT. Severity: Extreme. Urgency: Immediate. Certainty: Observed.
Affected Areas
Southwestern Blue Earth County, north central Martin County and southeastern Watonwan County in south central Minnesota. The storm was located near Truman (11 miles north of Fairmont) at 7:48 PM CDT.
What You Should Do
Move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a well-built building away from windows. If outdoors, in a mobile home or in a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter and protect yourself from flying debris.
Expected Conditions
A severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located near Truman moving northeast at 30 mph. Radar indicated rotation. Hazard: Tornado. Impacts include dangerous flying debris, damage to mobile homes, roofs, windows and vehicles, and likely tree damage.
