Alert Details
A Special Marine Warning has been issued by the National Weather Service in Mount Holly NJ. The alert is effective from September 1 at 8:05 PM EDT until September 1 at 9:30 PM EDT.
Affected Areas
The warning covers coastal waters from Sandy Hook to Manasquan Inlet NJ out 20 NM; coastal waters from Manasquan Inlet to Little Egg Inlet NJ out 20 NM; and waters from Manasquan Inlet NJ to Little Egg Inlet NJ from 20 to 60 NM. Locations impacted include Ocean Gate, Sea Girt Reef, Ship Bottom, Barnegat Light Reef, Silverton, Axel Carlson Reef, Forked River, Harvey Cedars, Lavallette, Barnegat Light, North Beach Haven, Garden State North Reef, Point Pleasant Beach, Belmar, Seaside Park, Manasquan Inlet, Pine Beach, Garden State South Reef, and Beach Haven.
What You Should Do
Mariners should avoid the area. Waterspouts can easily overturn boats and create locally hazardous seas. Small craft could be damaged in briefly higher winds and suddenly higher waves. Large hail could result in structural damage.

At 8:05 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing waterspouts was located over Axel Carlson Reef, moving south at 20 knots. Hazards include waterspouts, wind gusts 34 knots or greater, and large hail.
