Flood Warning issued by NWS Charleston WV. Effective from 11:50 PM EDT August 17, 2026 until 11:45 AM EDT August 18, 2026. The alert is classified as severe with likely certainty.
Affected Areas
West Central Tyler County in northern West Virginia and Northeastern Pleasants County in northwestern West Virginia. Specific locations include St. Marys, Middlebourne, Arvilla and Point Lookout. The automated gauge on Middle Island Creek at Little was just above its 16 foot Moderate Flood Stage.

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. Report flooding to the National Weather Service by calling toll free 800 401 9535 when you can do so safely.
Expected Conditions
Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. At Moderate Flood Stage, low areas along secondary roads near Middle Island Creek are flooded and Stewarts Run Road is flooded. No additional rainfall is expected.
