Alert Details
A Flood Warning has been issued by the National Weather Service Charleston WV. The alert is effective from August 16 at 10:38 PM EDT until August 17 at 5:15 AM EDT.
Affected Areas
The warning covers Kanawha County and Putnam County in West Virginia, specifically central Kanawha County and central Putnam County. Locations include Charleston, Nitro, Winfield, Jefferson, South Charleston, St. Albans, Dunbar, Sissonville, Eleanor, Poca, Institute, Cross Lanes, Coal Fork, Pinch, Elkview, Tornado, Teays Valley and Bancroft. Affected highways include Interstate 77 between mile markers 96 and 111, Route 119 between mile markers 74 and 80, Interstate 64 between mile markers 38 and 57, West Virginia Turnpike between mile markers 93 and 95, and Interstate 79 between mile markers 1 and 11.

Expected Conditions
Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected, with 1.5 to 2.5 inches of rain having fallen. Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Local media have reported water rescues.
