Alert Details
Flood Warning issued by NWS Charleston WV. Effective from August 16 at 1:16 PM EDT until August 16 at 8:45 PM EDT. Replaces previous Flash Flood Warning.
Affected Areas
Northeastern Boone County, southeastern Kanawha County, western Fayette County, and north central Raleigh County in central and southeastern West Virginia. Specific locations include Fayetteville, Oak Hill, Montgomery, Chesapeake, Marmet, Ansted, Belle, Cedar Grove, East Bank, Glasgow, Smithers, Gauley Bridge, Pratt, Burnwell, Powellton, Hawks Nest State Park, Coal Fork, Handley, Sylvester, and Thurmond. Impacted highways include Route 19 between mile markers 8-16 and 18-23, and West Virginia Turnpike between mile markers 57-92.

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.
Expected Conditions
Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. Between 2 and 4 inches of rain have fallen. Numerous roads remain closed due to flooding. Water will continue to work its way down the drainages with continuing high water impacts. No additional rainfall is expected.
