Flood Warning issued by NWS Charleston WV. Effective from September 23, 2026 at 8:02 PM EDT until September 24 at 1:15 AM EDT. Replaces previous Flash Flood Warning.
Affected Areas
Braxton, Calhoun, Clay, Gilmer, and Roane counties in West Virginia. Specific areas include Southeastern Roane County, West Central Braxton County, Southeastern Calhoun County, North Central Clay County, and Southwestern Gilmer County. Locations experiencing flooding: Big Otter, Arnoldsburg, Nicut, Chloe, Orma, Nebo, Shock, Rosedale, Millstone, Servia, and Tariff. Includes Interstate 79 between mile markers 36 and 45.
What You Should Do
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads. Report flooding to the National Weather Service by calling toll free 800-401-9535 when safe.
Expected Conditions
Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Low-water crossings are inundated and may not be passable. Between 2 and 3 inches of rain have fallen.
