Flash Flood Warning issued by NWS Albuquerque NM. Effective from 2026-06-03T13:14:00-06:00 until 2026-06-03T15:15:00-06:00. Severity: Severe. Urgency: Immediate. Certainty: Likely.
Affected Areas
South Central Lincoln County in central New Mexico, specifically the South Fork burn scar. Impacts Eagle Creek and Gavilan Canyon drainages, nearby reservoirs, bridges, culverts and roadways. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include Ruidoso and Alto.
What You Should Do
This is a life threatening situation. Heavy rainfall will cause extensive and severe flash flooding of creeks, streams and ditches in the South Fork Burn Scar. Severe debris flows can also be anticipated across roads. Roads and driveways may be washed away in places. If you encounter flood waters, climb to safety. Avoid flooded areas.
Expected Conditions
At 1:14 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain over the South Fork Burn Scar. Between 0.5 and 1 inch of rain has fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.25 to 0.75 inches are possible. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. Debris flow can consist of rock, mud, vegetation and other loose materials.
