Flash Flood Warning issued by NWS Albuquerque NM. Effective from 2:05 PM MDT to 5:00 PM MDT on June 19, 2026. The alert is classified as Severe with Immediate urgency.
Affected Areas
West Central San Miguel County in northeastern New Mexico, including the Hermits Peak and Calf Canyon Burn Scar. Specific locations include El Porvenir, Mineral Hill, San Geronimo, Gallinas, Blue Haven Youth Camp, and Sebastian Canyon.
What You Should Do
This is a life threatening situation. Heavy rainfall will cause extensive and severe flash flooding of creeks, streams and ditches in the Hermits Peak and Calf Canyon Burn Scar. Severe debris flows can also be anticipated across roads. Roads and driveways may be washed away in places. If you encounter flood waters, climb to safety. Avoid flooded areas.
Expected Conditions
Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain over the southwest portion of the Hermits Peak and Calf Canyon Burn Scar. Between 0.25 and 0.75 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.25 to 0.75 inches are possible. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. Hazard includes life threatening flash flooding.
