Affected Areas

Southeastern Sandoval County in north central New Mexico, including Bernalillo, Corrales, Santa Ana Pueblo, Coronado State Monument, San Felipe Pueblo, Sandia Pueblo, Placitas and Algodones. Also affects Highway 550 between Mile Markers 1 and 2 and Interstate 25 between Mile Markers 236 and 254.

What You Should Do

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.

Expected Conditions

Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain. Up to 1.5 inches of rain have fallen. Expected rainfall rate is 0.5 to 1 inch in 1 hour. Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are possible. Rain gauges in the Placitas area indicate between 1 and 2 inches fell within the past 2 hours.
