Flash Flood Warning issued by NWS Albuquerque NM. Effective from 2026-09-22T22:09:00-06:00 until 2026-09-23T01:00:00-06:00. Severity: Severe. Urgency: Immediate. Certainty: Likely.
Affected Areas
North Central Quay County in east central New Mexico and Southeastern Harding County in northeastern New Mexico. Mainly rural areas, including McCarty Road and Nara Visa Road near the Quay and Harding County border.
What You Should Do
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.
Expected Conditions
Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1.5 and 3 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 0.75 inches are possible. Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.
