...Forecast flooding changed from Moderate to Major severity and increased in duration for the following river in Alabama... Styx River Near Elsanor affecting Baldwin County. For the Styx River...including Elsanor...Major flooding is forecast. Additional information is available at www.weather.gov/mob. Click on the Rivers and Lakes menu for forecasts and observations. The next statement will be issued when updates occur. * WHAT...Major flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Styx River near Elsanor. * WHEN...From late Friday night to Sunday afternoon. * IMPACTS...At 14.0 feet, moderate Flood Stage. Water reaches top of bulkheads on Donovan Circle in the Seminole Landing community. Upstream, wter begins to flood Waterworld and areas near Goat Cooper Roads. At 16.0 feet, water begins to flood low lying areas on Donovan Circle in the Seminole Landing community. Water begins to overflow bulkheads on Juniper Road. Goat Cooper and Waterworld Rds are flooded with Riverside and the Retreat RV parks flooded. At 17.0 feet, Major Flood stage. Water is near and under low lying houses on Donovan Circle with the road flooded. Goat Cooper and Waterworld Roads impassable, with major flooding near the river. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 8:00 PM CDT Thursday the stage was 2.8 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage early Saturday morning to a crest of 17.6 feet early Saturday afternoon. It will then fall below flood stage Sunday morning. - Flood stage is 12.0 feet. - Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of 17.7 feet on 01/22/2010. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
