Hazardous winter conditions are possible due to: - Snow - Wind - Blizzard conditions What: - Heavy snow near the Ogilvie Mountains - Very strong winds gusting to 100 km/h near the Richardson Mountains - Possible blizzard conditions near the Richardson Mountains When: Sunday. Where: Dempster Highway. Additional information: A wide variety of weather conditions is expected on the Dempster Highway on Sunday as a weather system crosses the area. Beginning early Sunday morning, snow will develop across the southern half of the Dempster. Generally, five centimetres of snow is expected but locally, it may reach 10 cm. Very strong easterly winds gusting to 100 km/h will develop near the Richardson Mountains with this weather system. As the system moves north Sunday afternoon, falling snow will combine with the very strong easterly winds near the Richardson Mountains to produce blizzard conditions with near-zero visibility. Occasional blowing snow will continue Sunday night with lighter wind speeds and a chance of flurries. Visibility may be suddenly reduced to near-zero at times. Some travel delays are possible.
