The notice as issued
Blizzard conditions with poor visibility in snow and blowing snow are expected. What: - Very strong winds gusting to 100 km/h near the Richardson Mountains - Blizzard conditions near the Richardson Mountains When: Today. Where: Dempster Highway. Additional information: A wide variety of weather conditions is expected on the Dempster Highway today as a weather system crosses the area. Very strong easterly winds gusting to 100 km/h will develop near the Richardson Mountains with this weather system. A general five centimetres of snow is expected but locally, 10 centimetres may fall, particularly over higher elevations of the highway. As the system moves north, falling snow will combine with the very strong easterly winds near the Richardson Mountains to produce blizzard conditions with near-zero visibility by noon. The blizzard conditions will end early this evening. Occasional blowing snow will continue tonight with lighter wind speeds and a chance of flurries. Blizzard conditions are likely to return on Monday and continue into Tuesday. Travel will likely be hazardous in some locations. Road closures are possible.
