Issue: Health Canada has determined that heating pads and heated blankets sold by JKMAX pose a health and safety risk to consumers. The internal wire heating elements of the blankets and pads can overheat, posing fire and burn hazards. What you should do What to do: Consumers who have these affected products should immediately stop using them and safely dispose of the items in such a way that they cannot be used again. Regularly check the Healthy Canadians Recalls and Safety Alerts database for dangerous products and take action to remove items of concern. Health Canada would like to remind consumers to report any health or safety incidents related to the use of these products or any other consumer product or cosmetic by filling out the Consumer Product Incident Report Form. Additional information What is being done Affected products: This alert involves the JKMAX Heated Blankets and Heating Pads, including models JKMAX-002, JKMAX-7284B, JKMAX-6284B, JKMAX-10090B, JKMAX-8490B and JKMAX-6284B. The heated blankets and heating pads are blue, gray, brown or red. They are made of polyester fabric and are machine washable. The blankets and pads were sold in multiple sizes, and both have a detachable white remote that can be used to adjust the heat. The model number is located on the back of the remote and is also printed on a white label affixed to the product packaging along with the brand name “JKMAX”. Issue
