Ontario County in western New York... * Until 745 PM EDT. * At 651 PM EDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from Brighton to near Canandaigua, moving northeast at 70 mph. HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and half dollar size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees. * Locations impacted include... Geneva, Canandaigua, East Rochester, Webster, Fairport, Brighton, Fair Haven Beach State Park, Ontario, Penfield, and Newark. This includes Interstate 90 between exits 42 and 45.

What the agency told people to do

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. Prepare immediately for large hail and damaging winds. People outside should move immediately to shelter inside a strong building. Stay away from windows. A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 1100 PM EDT for central and western New York.
