SVRRAH The National Weather Service in Raleigh has issued a * Severe Thunderstorm Warning for... Sampson County in central North Carolina... Cumberland County in central North Carolina... * Until 645 PM EDT. * At 557 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Ammon, or 5 miles south of Fayetteville, moving east at 20 mph. HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and penny size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees. * Locations impacted include... Fayetteville, Clinton, Fort Bragg, Godwin, Hope Mills, Eastover, Roseboro, Stedman, Newton Grove, and Wade. This includes the following highways... Interstate 95 between Mile Markers 65 and 41. Interstate 40 between Mile Markers 340 and 353.

What the agency told people to do

Straight line winds can blow down trees, power lines, and damage mobile homes and other buildings. Seek shelter in a sturdy structure until the storm has passed. Stay away from windows as flying debris generated by damaging winds can be deadly.
