Alert Details
A Special Marine Warning has been issued by the National Weather Service in New Orleans. The alert is effective from 1:56 PM CDT on May 23, 2026, until 3:00 PM CDT on May 23, 2026.
Affected Areas
The warning covers Terrebonne Bay, Coastal Waters from Port Fourchon LA to Lower Atchafalaya River LA out 20 nm, and Coastal waters from Port Fourchon Louisiana to Lower Atchafalaya River LA from 20 to 60 NM.

Frequent lightning is occurring with this storm. If caught on the open water stay below deck if possible, keep away from ungrounded metal objects.

At 1:56 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing waterspouts was located 10 nm east of Eugene Island 189, or 23 nm southwest of Caillou Bay, moving east at 15 knots. Hazard includes wind gusts 34 knots or greater and waterspouts.
