A Special Marine Warning has been issued by the National Weather Service in Corpus Christi TX. The alert is effective from 1:00 AM CDT on May 11, 2026, until 2:00 AM CDT on May 11, 2026.
Affected Areas
The warning covers Baffin Bay and Upper Laguna Madre; Corpus Christi and Nueces Bays; Copano, Aransas, and Redfish Bays; San Antonio, Mesquite, and Espiritu Santo Bays; Coastal waters from Baffin Bay to Port Aransas out 20 NM; and Coastal waters from Port Aransas to Matagorda Ship Channel out 20 NM.

Move to safe harbor until hazardous weather passes. Frequent lightning is occurring with these storms. If caught on the open water, stay below deck if possible and keep away from ungrounded metal objects. Make sure all on board are wearing life jackets.
Expected Conditions
At 1:00 AM CDT, strong thunderstorms were located along a line extending from 19 nm west of Seadrift to 15 nm northwest of Corpus Christi North Beach to 35 nm northwest of Riviera Beach, moving southeast at 40 knots. Hazard includes wind gusts to nearly 50 knots. Expect wind gusts in excess of 34 knots, suddenly higher waves, frequent lightning, and heavy downpours.
