Alert Details
A Special Marine Warning (event code MAW) has been issued by the National Weather Service Mount Holly NJ. The alert is effective from May 20, 2026 at 6:17 PM EDT until May 20, 2026 at 8:15 PM EDT.
Affected Areas
The warning covers coastal waters from Sandy Hook to Manasquan Inlet NJ out 20 NM; coastal waters from Manasquan Inlet to Little Egg Inlet NJ out 20 NM; waters from Sandy Hook NJ to Manasquan Inlet NJ from 20 to 40 NM; and waters from Manasquan Inlet NJ to Little Egg Inlet NJ from 20 to 60 NM. Impacted locations include Ocean Gate, Leonardo, Sea Girt Reef, Atlantic Highlands, Barnegat Light Reef, Monmouth Beach, Sea Bright, Axel Carlson Reef, Silverton, Harvey Cedars, Forked River, Fair Haven, Lavallette, Barnegat Light, Garden State North Reef, Shark River Reef, Point Pleasant Beach, Belmar, Seaside Park, and Manasquan Inlet.

Move to safe harbor immediately as gusty winds and high waves are expected. Small craft could be damaged in briefly higher winds and suddenly higher waves.
Expected Conditions
At 6:17 PM EDT, a line of thunderstorms and an outflow boundary were located along a line extending from near South Amboy to 16 nm northwest of Silverton to 17 nm west of Pine Beach, moving east at 35 knots. Hazard includes wind gusts 34 knots or greater.
