Special Marine Warning issued by NWS Upton NY. Effective from June 6 at 6:49 PM EDT until June 6 at 8:15 PM EDT.
Affected Areas
New York Harbor; South Shore Bays from Jones Inlet through Shinnecock Bay; Sandy Hook NJ to Fire Island Inlet NY out 20 NM; Waters from Sandy Hook NJ to Fire Island Inlet NY out 20 to 60 NM.
What You Should Do
Boaters should seek safe harbor immediately until these storms pass. If caught on the open water stay below deck if possible, keep away from ungrounded metal objects.
Expected Conditions
Strong thunderstorms moving east at 40 knots. Wind gusts 34 knots or greater and small hail expected. Small craft could be damaged in briefly higher winds and suddenly higher waves. Lightning and heavy rain also expected.
