Special Marine Warning issued by NWS Lake Charles LA. Effective from June 18, 2026 at 12:53 AM CDT until June 18, 2026 at 1:45 AM CDT. Severity: Severe. Urgency: Immediate. Certainty: Likely.
Affected Areas
Atchafalaya and East Cote Blanche Bays; Coastal waters from Lower Atchafalaya River to Intracoastal City LA out 20 NM. Locations impacted include Eugene Island 57.
What You Should Do
Avoid the area. Waterspouts can easily overturn boats and create locally hazardous seas. Small craft could be damaged in briefly higher winds and suddenly higher waves.
Expected Conditions
A severe thunderstorm capable of producing waterspouts was located near Eugene Island 57, or 8 nm southwest of Point Au Fer Island, moving east at 25 knots. Hazard includes waterspouts and wind gusts 34 knots or greater.
