A Special Marine Warning has been issued by the National Weather Service in Lake Charles LA. The alert is effective from 5:30 PM CDT to 6:30 PM CDT on May 23, 2026.
Affected Areas
The warning covers Atchafalaya and East Cote Blanche Bays, coastal waters from Lower Atchafalaya River to Intracoastal City LA out 20 NM, and waters from Lower Atchafalaya River to Intracoastal City LA from 20 to 60 NM.

Severe thunderstorms capable of producing waterspouts were located along a line extending from near Eugene Island 32 to near Eugene Island 135, moving southeast at 15 knots. Hazards include waterspouts and wind gusts 34 knots or greater.
