Severe Thunderstorm Warning issued by NWS Rapid City SD. Effective from June 2 at 9:26 PM CDT until June 2 at 10:15 PM CDT.
Affected Areas
Northeastern Todd County and southeastern Mellette County in south central South Dakota. Locations impacted include Mission, Okreek, Wood, Mosher, Antelope, Butte Creek, Hidden Timber, Haystack Butte, and Rosebud Reservation. This includes portions of Highway 83 and Highway 18.
What You Should Do
For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. Move indoors immediately. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways. If you observe hail, wind damage, or flooding, please report your observations to the National Weather Service office in Rapid City.
Expected Conditions
At 9:24 PM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located 3 miles southeast of Haystack Butte and over Mission, moving northeast at 15 MPH. Hazards include 60 MPH wind gusts and half dollar size hail (1.25 inches). This storm has a history of producing hail to the size of golf balls. Torrential rainfall is also occurring.
