Severe Thunderstorm Warning issued by NWS Charleston WV. Effective from August 16 at 3:36 PM EDT until August 16 at 4:30 PM EDT. Alert code: SVR.
Affected Areas
Barbour, Braxton, Lewis, Pocahontas, Randolph, Upshur, and Webster counties in West Virginia. Locations impacted include Elkins, Buckhannon, Audra State Park, Webster Springs, Belington, Addison (Webster Springs), Mill Creek, Dailey, Holly River State Park, Rock Cave, Mingo, Beverly, Junior, Womelsdorf (Coalton), Huttonsville, Montrose, Alexander, Cheat Bridge, Eden, and Glady. This includes Route 33 between mile markers 15 and 35.
What You Should Do
For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. Torrential rainfall is occurring with these storms and may lead to flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
Expected Conditions
At 3:35 PM EDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from 6 miles east of Jackson Mill to near Birch River, moving east at 25 mph. Hazard includes 60 mph wind gusts. Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees. Hail up to 0.75 inches possible.
