Severe Thunderstorm Warning issued by NWS Quad Cities IA IL (NOAA). Effective from June 17, 2026 at 6:45 AM CDT until June 17, 2026 at 7:45 AM CDT.
Affected Areas
Johnson County in east central Iowa, Keokuk County in southeastern Iowa, Linn County in east central Iowa, and Washington County in southeastern Iowa. Locations impacted include Cedar Rapids, Iowa City, Washington, West Branch, Sigourney, Marion, Coralville, North Liberty, Hiawatha, Mount Vernon, Robins, Center Point, Kalona, Lisbon, Fairfax, Solon, Tiffin, Ely, Walford, and Wellman. Includes Interstate 80 in Iowa between mile markers 230 and 253, and Interstate 380 between mile markers 1 and 39.

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building. Move indoors immediately due to continuous cloud to ground lightning.
Expected Conditions
At 6:43 AM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from near Atkins to near Williamsburg to near Montezuma, moving east at 60 mph. Hazards include 70 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail (1.00 inch). Several measured wind gusts between 60 to 70 mph reported in Benton and Iowa Counties. Hail damage to vehicles expected. Considerable tree damage and wind damage likely to mobile homes, roofs, and outbuildings.
