Affected Areas

Northeastern Barnwell County, Northwestern Bamberg County, East central Aiken County, and West central Orangeburg County in central South Carolina. Locations impacted include Barnwell, Denmark, Williston, Blackville, Barnwell State Park, Springfield, Hilda, Neeses, Norway, Olar, Elko, Govan, and Barnwell County Airport.

What You Should Do

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. Move indoors immediately due to continuous cloud to ground lightning.

Expected Conditions

At 1:17 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Barnwell State Park or near Denmark, moving north at 15 mph. Hazards include 60 mph wind gusts and prolific cloud to ground lightning strikes. Radar indicated. Expect damage to trees and powerlines. Hail up to 0.75 inches possible.
