Severe Thunderstorm Warning issued by NWS North Platte NE. Effective from 2026-08-12T20:42:00-05:00 until 2026-08-12T21:30:00-05:00. Severity: Severe. Certainty: Observed. Urgency: Immediate.
Affected Areas
Southwestern Cherry County in north central Nebraska. Locations impacted include Speckel Meir Lake, Highway 61 crossing the Snake River, Round Lake, Hire, Morgan Lake, Indian Hill, Whitman Road crossing the North Branch of the Middle Loup River, and Intersection of Highway 61 and Survey Valley Road. This includes Highway 61 between mile markers 176 and 206.

Expected Conditions
At 841 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 24 miles southwest of Medicine Lake, or 28 miles southeast of Gordon, moving southeast at 25 mph. Hazard: 60 mph wind gusts and half dollar size hail (1.25 inches). Impact: Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees.
