Severe Thunderstorm Warning: Mohave and Clark, AZ and NV
The National Weather Service office in Las Vegas issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Mohave and Clark in Arizona, Nevada, which was in force until 3:30 p.m. local time on August 14. It was the 45th severe thunderstorm warning the NWS office in Las Vegas issued in 2026. Arizona had 340 severe thunderstorm warnings in August 2026, against 124 in an average August of 2008-2025 (Arizona's severe thunderstorm warnings by year).

SVRVEF The National Weather Service in Las Vegas has issued a * Severe Thunderstorm Warning for... West Central Mohave County in northwestern Arizona... East Central Clark County in southern Nevada... * Until 330 PM PDT /330 PM MST/. * At 239 PM PDT /239 PM MST/, a severe thunderstorm was located near Hoover Dam, or 10 miles east of Boulder City, moving east at 10 mph. HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees. * Locations impacted include... Temple Bar Campground, Hoover Dam and Temple Bar.
What the agency told people to do
Seek shelter inside a well-built structure and stay away from windows. This storm is capable of producing damaging winds and large hail. If on or near Lake Mead, get away from the water and move indoors or inside a vehicle. Remember, lightning can strike out to 15 miles from the parent thunderstorm. If you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning. Move to safe shelter now! Do not be caught on the water in a thunderstorm.
