Affected Areas
Johnston County (east central), Wayne County (northeastern), and Wilson County (southern) in central North Carolina. Locations impacted include Smithfield, Fremont, Micro, Selma, Four Oaks, Pine Level, Kenly, Princeton, Lucama, and Stantonsburg. Highways affected: Interstate 95 between Mile Markers 107 and 90; NC Highway 264 between Mile Markers 44 and 49, and between Mile Markers 51 and 56.
What You Should Do
Move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. Move indoors immediately due to frequent cloud-to-ground lightning. Do not drive through flooded roadways.

At 7:17 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 8 miles west of Fremont (13 miles east of Smithfield), moving east at 20 mph. Hazards include 60 mph wind gusts and penny size hail (0.75 inch). Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees. Torrential rainfall may lead to flash flooding.
