Severe Thunderstorm Warning issued by NWS Phoenix AZ. Effective from 4:35 PM MST to 5:15 PM MST on August 9, 2026. Event code: SVR.
Affected Areas
Gila County in east central Arizona, Maricopa County in south central Arizona, and Pinal County in southeastern Arizona. Locations impacted include Globe, Miami, Top Of The World, Central Heights-Midland City, Claypool, and Inspiration. Highways affected: US Highway 60 between mile markers 230 and 248; AZ Route 188 between mile markers 214 and 222, and between mile markers 224 and 235.

At 4:35 PM MST, a severe thunderstorm was located near Miami, or 10 miles west of Globe, and is nearly stationary. Hazards include 60 mph wind gusts and penny size hail (0.75 inch). Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees. Torrential rainfall may lead to flash flooding.
