Severe Thunderstorm Warning issued by NWS Newport/Morehead City NC. Effective from 3:49 PM EDT to 4:30 PM EDT on June 14, 2026.
Affected Areas
Northwestern Hyde County and east central Beaufort County in eastern North Carolina. Locations impacted include Belhaven, Sladesville, Scranton, Ponzer, Fairfield, Leechville, Rose Bay, and Alligator Lake.
What You Should Do
Move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. Send reports of hail and/or wind damage by calling the National Weather Service office in Newport at 1-800-889-6889. Move indoors immediately.
Expected Conditions
At 3:49 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Sladesville, or 27 miles east of River Road, moving northeast at 20 mph. Hazards include 60 mph wind gusts and penny size hail (0.75 inch). Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees. Torrential rainfall may lead to flash flooding.
