Affected Areas

Northeastern Aransas County, Calhoun County, and east central Refugio County in south central Texas. Locations impacted include Port Lavaca, Seadrift, Port Oconnor, Point Comfort, Alamo Beach, Indianola, Magnolia Beach, Schicke Point, Long Mott, Olivia, Port Alto, Matagorda Island State Park, Aransas National Wildlife Refuge, and Austwell. This includes US Highway 87 between mile markers 836 and 840.

What You Should Do

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. Move indoors immediately. Large hail, damaging wind, and continuous cloud to ground lightning are occurring with this storm.

Expected Conditions

At 4:03 AM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Aransas National Wildlife Refuge, or 9 miles south of Seadrift, moving northeast at 55 mph. Hazards include 60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail (1.00 inch). Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees.
