Flood Warning issued by NWS Blacksburg VA. Effective from August 2 at 4:27 AM EDT until August 2 at 2:00 PM EDT. Replaces Flash Flood Warning.

Affected Areas

Portions of north central North Carolina, including Stokes and Surry counties, and southwest Virginia, including Patrick County. Specific locations include Mount Airy, Fairview, Dobson, Pilot Mountain, Danbury, Francisco and Sandy Ridge. Streams and drainages affected include Beaver Creek, Big Creek, Big Beaver Island Creek, Baker Branch, Archies Creek and Ararat River.

What You Should Do

When it is safe to do so, send reports of flooding, including mudslides or flooded roads, to the National Weather Service by calling toll free at 1-866-215-4324. Reports and pictures can also be shared on the National Weather Service Blacksburg Facebook page and on X.

Expected Conditions

Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. At 4:26 AM EDT, flooding continues as several creeks and rivers remain well out of their banks due to runoff from heavy rain earlier.
