Alert Details
A Flood Warning has been issued by the National Weather Service Springfield MO. The alert is effective from June 8 at 1:20 PM CDT until June 9 at 1:00 AM CDT.
Affected Areas
The warning covers Barry, Christian, Douglas, Greene, Stone, Taney and Webster counties in southwest Missouri. Flooding is already occurring in the warned area, including low water crossings such as Wilson's Creek at Old Limey Road, Little Beaver Creek at County Road 447, Bull Creek at Center Road, Little Beaver Creek at Old Cheese Plant Road, Finley River at Johns Ford Road, Bear Creek at Reno Springs Road and Swan Creek at Swan Cave Road. Locations that will experience flooding include Springfield, Nixa, Ozark, Republic, Branson, Battlefield, Kimberling City, Forsyth, Highlandville, Hollister, Rogersville, Silver Dollar City, Clever, Merriam Woods, Sparta, Crane, Billings, Reeds Spring, Seligman, Rockaway Beach, Fordland, Indian Point, Branson West, Galena, Washburn, Taneyville, Diggins, Shell Knob, Kissee Mills, Fremont Hills, Bull Creek, Brookline, Mccord Bend, Golden, Table Rock, Emerald Beach, Kirbyville, Eagle Rock, Hurley and Spokane.
What You Should Do
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Many flood deaths occur in vehicles. In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route.
Expected Conditions
Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. At 1:20 PM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Streams continue to rise due to excess runoff from earlier rainfall.
