Alert Details
A Flood Warning has been issued by the National Weather Service Wichita KS. The alert is effective from June 21 at 9:59 AM CDT until June 21 at 9:00 PM CDT.
Affected Areas
The warning covers portions of south central Kansas, including Butler, Cowley, Harper, Kingman, Reno, Sedgwick and Sumner counties. Locations that may experience flooding include Derby, Arkansas City, Winfield, Haysville, Wellington, Mulvane, Rose Hill, Kingman, Clearwater, Cheney, Douglass, Belle Plaine, Harper, Conway Springs, Oxford, Garden Plain, Udall, Pretty Prairie and Burden.
What You Should Do
Do not drive into flooded areas or go around barricades. Nearly two feet of water will carry most vehicles away. Turn around, don't drown.
Expected Conditions
Street flooding, county road flooding, and small stream flooding caused by last night's heavy rainfall is expected. Between 3 and 6 inches of rain occurred last night across the warned area, causing flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, city streets, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
