Alert Details
Flood Warning issued by NWS Wichita KS. Effective from June 21 at 3:16AM CDT until June 23 at 1:19AM CDT. Event code: FLW.
Affected Areas
Sedgwick County, KS and Sumner County, KS. Specifically the Ninnescah River near Peck.
What You Should Do
Do not drive into flooded areas or go around barricades. Nearly two feet of water will carry most vehicles away. Turn around, don't drown.
Expected Conditions
Minor flooding is forecast. At 18.0 feet, water flows over 103rd Street about 2 miles west of Clearwater with flooding about 2 feet deep. South of Clearwater the river expands to about 1/2 mile on the south bank. Many county roads near the river are expected to be flooded.
Timeline
Onset this evening (June 21). River expected to rise above flood stage this evening to a crest of 18.0 feet tomorrow morning (June 22). It will fall below flood stage early tomorrow afternoon. Alert ends early Tuesday morning (June 23).
