Flood Warning issued by NWS Wichita KS. Effective from 11:52 PM CDT May 30 until 6:45 AM CDT May 31. Severity: Severe. Certainty: Likely. Urgency: Expected.
Affected Areas
A portion of central Kansas, specifically Saline County. Locations that will experience flooding include Salina, Brookville, Smolan, New Cambria, Glendale, Salina Airport and Kipp.
What You Should Do
Do not drive into flooded areas or go around barricades. Nearly two feet of water will carry most vehicles away. Turn around, don't drown. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.
Expected Conditions
Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. At 11:52 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 2 to 3 inches are possible. Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring.
