Alert Details

A Flood Warning has been issued by the National Weather Service Wichita KS. The alert is effective from June 20 at 11:23 PM CDT until June 21 at 6:00 AM CDT.

Affected Areas

The warning covers a portion of central Kansas, specifically Russell County. Locations that will experience flooding include Russell, Lucas, Gorham, Luray, Dorrance, Bunker Hill, Paradise, Waldo, Russell Airport, Wilson Lake and Wilson State Park.

What You Should Do

Do not drive into flooded areas or go around barricades. Nearly two feet of water will carry most vehicles away. Turn around, don't drown. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.

Expected Conditions

Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. At 11:21 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Between 2 and 3.5 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are possible in the warned area with locally higher amounts possible. Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring.
